Founder
Gary Borquez is the Principal and Founder of Wheelhouse Legal Search, LLC.
Gary is a 1993 graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law. He also
holds a Master's degree from the University of Southern California and a
Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Irvine.
For the last 11 years, Gary has worked with law firms and corporations to
provide them with trademark and copyright research, IP docketing software
and patent annuity services. He has also been an instructor of legal research
for the last 15 years in paralegal programs including U.C. Irvine, University of
San Diego and U.C.L.A.
Guiding Principle
Wheelhouse Legal Search has a very specific mission - that is to ensure a
close fit between the brightest IP professionals and the most highly-regarded
law firm and in-house positions in the industry. The extensive industry
knowledge and contact base of Gary and the other IP recruiters at
Wheelhouse will ensure that quality placements take place each and every
time.
Why the Name?
Being involved in a business that revolves around the importance of names, it
was critical to come up with THE name. Then nothing came. Nothing came for
6 weeks until the epiphany. Gary, ever the baseball devotee, was pitching to
one of his sons and the ball was hit hard to the outfield. Another father, who
was watching in the stands, remarked that the ball was right in the boy's
wheelhouse. Wheelhouse meaning that the ball was right over the plate and
perfectly placed for his swing.
Later that day, Gary was describing his plans for a legal search and consulting
business to a trusted business colleague and they remarked that this type of
venture was clearly in Gary's wheelhouse.
That was all it took. Our goal is to find IP careers where the position is right in
the wheelhouse of the attorney or paralegal - a perfect, over-the-plate fit!
